In over 80 cities around Greece thousands of workers, farmers and students celebrated the May Day. PAME (All-Workers Militant Front) organised a large strike demonstration in Syntagma Square, Athens, sending the message that no legislation and no government ever gave away any rights to the working class - every right has been a result of hard class struggle

In its announcement PAME states that "the working class had never anything being given for free, the working class, at all times, imposed its rights, under its own laws, the laws of class struggle, of its organization, of its uprisings!" adding that "the labour movement history, in Greece, as well as internationally, is full of examples of which line is useful and effective for the workers. The employers’ and governmental trade unionism, the line of class collaboration, of social dialogues mean only subjugation, retreat, diminishing the demands of the workers. The 8hour workday, the social insurance, the collective contracts, all those achievements have in their core the endless efforts of the class oriented movement; they bear the sign of class struggle".

The Athens May Day demonstration was saluted by Bangladeshi workers' representative as well as by Gilda Chacov Bravo, Cuban member of the Secretariat of the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU). The central speech in Syntagma was delivered by Giorgos Perros, member of the PAME Secretariat, who expressed PAME’s internationalist solidarity to the workers of the Peugeot factory, in France, who decided to continue their strike for 15th week. The new Secretary-General of the Communist Party of Greece, Dimitris Koutsoumpas, participated in the Syntagma demonstration.

In Thessaloniki approximately 10,000 people joined the PAME strike demonstration in the city center, honoring the May 1936 strike victims

Other large demonstrations took place in Patras, Larissa, Heraklio and Ioannina where the Greek working class protested the new anti-labour barbaric measures taken by the governmental coalition, the EU and Troika.
